Tonsillitis is a common problem in which the fleshy pads at the back of throat get infected by virus or bacteria and making them swells. The swollen throat tonsillitis is painful and often gives rise to high fever in children. There are antibiotics available in the market which can be given to treat swollen tonsillitis and many parents try to cure with home remedies.

Tonsillitis can be cure with different antibiotics as they are caused mainly by bacteria which make them swollen and painful. Guardian should be careful regarding their children and if extreme tonsillitis affects the throat then surgery is needed. In order to prevent any extreme condition checking out the symptoms of tonsillitis at the onset and starting medication will perhaps help to treat tonsillitis.

When it comes to medication doctors prescribe only antibiotics because tonsillitis is generally caused by virus which can only treat with antibiotics.

Other most preferred treatment given by parents is home remedies as severe virus wouldn’t be treated with mild antibiotics. The inflammation caused by viral infection in throat can be soothed with drinking tea, soups and warm water. At the same time gargling with warm water mixed with pinch of salt will help reducing the swelling.

Tonsillectomy was common in the past years when doctors had to remove tonsils if child was prone to attack of tonsillitis. It is a surgical process in which tonsils are removed and can only resort in chronic cases of tonsillitis.
