Whooping cough is a common respiratory infection in growing kid’s that causes burst of coughing. The infection is mainly caused by bacteria called Bordetella pertussis which is communicable through sneezing and coughing. Children are more prone to whooping cough due to the impotent immunity. The tiny tissues of fluid come out during coughing or sneezing spreads Pertussis to the person in contact easily.

The 90 % infection usually gets transferred from person to person residing in a same house as members. Though adult’s problem can be curbed by antibiotics and other curative medicines however whooping cough is serious in small kids and toddlers, as babies very often found on the littered floors amidst various bacteria.

Treatment of whooping cough is important in kids with utmost care as specific immunization will be helpful. The first step is noticing your child’s severity of cough if it is rare and normal then there is no need of taking major steps, while cough which is prominent and infects the child frequently needs overall care. Some of the symptoms of nasty whooping cough are:

  • The first stage in whooping cough is cold that leads to sneezing, runny nose and then coughing.
  • This cough and cold lasts for weeks and sometimes while coughing and breathing a high sound of whoop can be heard.
  • Some kids usually vomit after coughing
  • Symptoms of ear pain and chest infection like pneumonia
Treatment of whooping cough depends on the various factors such as age, severity and longevity of symptoms. Therefore proper diagnose is necessary to start medication and immunization altogether is considerable way to subjugate this infection. Whooping cough leading to other illnesses and infections can be prevented by anti-biotic like erythromycin and use it until the cough goes away.

If the cough lasts for more than 3 weeks then child has to be hospitalized and could be diagnosed for other pertaining disease like tuberculosis. So there is a need to be careful for whooping cough and it can be curative if treated at the beginning before it could turn into a lethal ailment.
