This type of skin must be cleanse with gentle herbal face wash and wipe off the dirt with astringent. Oily skin doesn’t need moisturizer though a light one will be suitable probably more in winters.

- Follow a regular routine of cleansing, moisturizing and toning. Use hydrating moisturizer but if this is inducing oily conditions then switch on to silicon based primers.
- These primers excel wearing properties of foundation and some matte foundations can also be applied to touch up.
- Use lighter shade of foundation to overcome the excess oil darkening. Keep away from dark and shimmering touch makeup which may look drab on oily skin.
- Always use powder blush instead cream.
- Never use greasy moisturizers rather make sure moisturizer is oil free.
- Keep your makeup soft, light and natural to avoid shiny effect. Shimmer can be used on lips to accentuate the other features.
- Use blotting paper to touchup during the day which absorbs excess oil.
Dry skin type is generally thin textured, dry to touch, fine pores, appearing flaky patches after wash and hardly develops acne.

To ward off that dry patchy look use creamy moisturizer to cover off the dryness. Allow creamy cleanser to stay on for minute so that dirt would melt away and swipe off with cotton wool. Wash off your face to clean and then apply thick moisturizer to soak dryness and refresh your skin.

- Wash off the sustained dirt by exfoliating on face and neck before applying makeup.
- Use non-sticky moisturizer to remove the dry flaky look.
- Apply primer starting from centre of the face. After primer liquid foundation can be applied to make a light base for further makeup.
- Use foundation that has some degrees of oil retain capability. Creamy or liquid concealers work best on dry skin and perhaps hide the unnecessary spots, scars and blemishes. But always use concealer having lighter shade than foundation you use.
- After the base apply blush to give final touch. Use powder or gel based blush for dry skin.
- For eyes use liquid or pencil eyeliners with creamy eye shadows.
- If you are using light shade of lipstick or gloss than outline your lips with darker shade of lipliner. This will highlight your lips providing a glam look. Never use matching lipliner with lipstick. Dark lip shades are ideal for this skin types.
Normal skin type is neither greasy nor dry, feels comfortable, small visible pores, fresh and soft and occasionally develops acne.
Normal skin care
Normal skin usually adaptable to every environment and doesn’t get affected easily with changing climates unlike oily and dry skin. Normal skin should be cleansed with simple water or toner regularly to remove dust and refreshing it.

- Make a base using non-oily and non-greasy foundation but it should be water based. If the colour of skin is dark then choose a dark shade foundation but apply it moderately. As darker skin tend to show layer of foundation more than fairer skin.
- Cover up your eyes with dark brown, copper or burgundy eye shadows. Give your eyelids a brush up with loose, translucent power that makes the eyes beautiful all the more. Further you can use black mascara for highlighting big eyes.
- For blush you can use end number of colours like coral, rose and orange while avoid dark shades like brown and peach. For special occasions give a touch of gold.
- Use matte lipsticks instead frosted ones. The popular colours for lip shades can be chosen from plum, chocolate, burgundy, mocha, coffee, nude pink but avoid the tints of orange. These colour works well with normal skin type.
