To make flooring last longer just like it has been installed now, there is a need to look after its care. Here are some simple ways and tricks to keep your flooring upto date in order to make it look new and lustrous.
Wooden flooring
- Wooden flooring is today’s most liked flooring which makes the epitome of elegance and last long if maintained with proper care without negligence. Little carelessness can leave your hardwood floor appearing dull, warped and older.
- Keep a check on falling sunlight onto the floor as this can easily cause discoloration of wood making look dull.
Wooden floor has to be protected from regular wear and tear it might get due to scuffing and scraping. Therefore you can use rugs and carpets so as to protect hardwood floor and maintain its charm.
- Avoid using water on wooden floor because water based products can rot wood and you may need to replace it. You can also apply wax to traffic areas like hallway, living room and kitchen.
- Pets can make your wooden floors shaggy and age old, thus trim the toenails of your pets to avoid scratches.
Marble flooring
- Marble flooring is always epitomized as symbol of beauty and prosperity. It is the most beautiful flooring one can have which adds class to any home.
- Marble can be easily washed with water or detergent to retain its shine and charm. Though it looses its colour or gets pale with due course of time but hydrogen peroxide can return its original tint which might have lost due to paleness.
- This type of flooring is easily wiped off with cotton mop and water but try to clean up the water quickly otherwise it make get slippery.
- Marble is prone to rust easily but they can be cleared off using lemon salt.
- Polishing marble in every 2 or 3 year can help maintain the original luster of marble.
Stone flooring
- Granite stone is luxurious and sophisticated when installed in home floors. It is popular due to its durability, beauty and can be easily maintained.
- Granite must be washed with luke warm water everyday to keep its original polish as it is. However use soap once in a week and clean and sweep the floor using mop while make sure that water doesn’t stand on the floor..
- If something is spilled on the floor, clean it immediately. Avoid wiping on granite flooring while try to blot.
Tile flooring
- Tile flooring has become the favourite of all houses due to its aesthetic superiority and bringing character to home. Ceramic tiles add an additional charm to home décor and the best thing is that they can be easily maintained compared to other types.
- Tile flooring requires regular washing or sweeping because tile is visually effective and stains can be easily seen on the floor.
- Do not mop the tile floor hard, but you can use cotton mop or sponge. Drop the cleaner on the floor and leave it from a minute and sponge it softly.
- In order to avoid accumulating dirt, keep the rugs and mats in different exposed areas of rooms and doorways. This way the mat and rug will catch all the dirt and filth coming from outside with shoes and sandals keeping the floors clean.
