Classification of BricksBricks are essential raw material required in every construction but which type of brick should be used in specific type of construction is important to know. Bricks vary in type, size and shape that are used in masonry purpose. We will now going to discuss about these different types of bricks in detail:
Brunt Clay Bricks
Brunt clay bricks are commonly used bricks in the construction purpose. Brunt bricks are usually prepared using casting mould in which clay is filled through an extrusion and dried and finally baked or fired in the kiln. After they are baked in the kiln clay changes its colour or sometimes they are coloured with red paint. This is what we called brunt clay brick.
Sand Lime Bricks

Sand lime bricks are generally produced by amalgamation of sand and hydrated lime. The mixture of sand and lime is pressed in the moulds and then given treatment in the high pressure steam autoclave.
Concrete Bricks
This type of brick is a composition of cement and sand produced by pressing in the mould and treated by steam.
Fly Ash Clay Bricks
This type of brick is produced by fly ash mixed with clay and finally obtained by treating in the thermal boilers.
Fire Clay Bricks
Fire clay bricks are naturally produced bricks having ideal chemical composition and physical properties as they are obtained through mining the much of the earth’s level. Fire clay bricks have more of metallic oxides than surface’s bricks and are much useful in the construction.
Although bricks have variety yet brunt clay bricks are considered ideal for the construction purpose. Ensure that bricks you use are free from impurities like fungi, algae, chips or organic matter. Bricks should have uniform shape in order to fit into the construction well.
